Homespun
Yes, in the sense that a lot of what is on display here is homemade, remade, repurposed, etc. Where I did NOT make the chair, I have repurposed it as a planter. In this particular case, I am adding some tiles, as well, where once a woven seat was. The plant was purchased last year and wintered over in a cold frame. That plant is setting upon wooden dividers from a case of wine. I have painted red and stacked two by two. Kinda reminded me of a Roman viaduct or a bridge in Lyon, perhaps? Thus, alot of my elementary, menial skills went into this, but a lot of my imagination as well. self-reliance...in the Theroux sense...or Thoreau? At present, the ladder back chair, now a plant holder (or escalator?) has served its purpose well for this pot of morning glories. The hanging spaghetti pot of wild bergamot suspended above (held in place by a wooden 'cradle' I made of scrap taken from the chair below) has kinda been overrun, as well. I need to text my neighbor upstairs. The chain used to suspend cradle is a fishing stringer. At one point, hard to imagine now, the snaps held (not fish...although that's an idea) some flower pots. Lastly, wouldn't Rachel Whiteread be happy that the negative space of this chair has found New Life! |
